Clomid (Clomiphene citrate, Serophene)

Clomid as a fertility drug can facilitate you to tackle with infertility effectively. Clomid is a brand name for Clomiphene citrate (CC, Serophene). It is relatively inexpensive than other fertility drugs, as it is orally consumed rather than by injection. It is one of the selective estrogen receptor modulators that acts as an anti-estrogen and tricks the pituitary gland into producing more FSH and LH, which, in turn, stimulates the ovary into producing more eggs and follicles. Thus, increases the stimulation of the ovary to begin to produce a mature egg.

Clomid side effects

Some side effects of Clomid are:

* Vasomotor flushes
* Abdominal or pelvic discomfort
* Breast discomfort
* Headache
* Ovarian cyst

How to take Clomid

Clomiphene citrate comes in 50-mg tablets that are taken on days 5-9 of your cycle or, less typically, on days 4-8 or 3-7. Daily dosage ranges from 50 mg to 200 mg.

Clomid and ovulation

An ideal drug used for ovulation induction in patients with PCOS and other ovulatory disorders. Clomid is not useful for women whose ovaries have reached the end of their working life.

Clomid and cycle lenght

The Clomid therapy is initiated on or around day 14 of a regular 28-day cycle, so that the woman can ovulate. Most widely used dose starts with one daily 50 mg. tablet for five days starting on cycle day three or five.
