Celebrex (Celecoxib) Medication

Celebrex is the brand name for celecoxib. Drug celebrex comes in the category of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It helps in the lessening of the essence that causes inflammation, fever and pain in human body.

How does CELEBREX work?

Celebrex works in lowering down the pain, stiffness and inflammation due to ankylosing spondylitis, or rheumatoid arthritis. It can bring relief when you have an acute pain.

In the body, 2 enzymes are called COX-1 and COX-2. COX-1 helps regulate normal cell function in the stomach and blood. COX-2 plays a role in causing arthritis pain and inflammation. CELEBREX is a scientific breakthrough—the first product to target only the COX-2 enzyme.

Clinical trials have proven that CELEBREX is effective at reducing arthritis pain, inflammation and stiffness. It’s also effective for the relief of pain and inflammation of one of the most severe forms of arthritis, RA.

One has to consume celebrex dose as directed by doctor. Celebrex dose can be taken with an empty stomach. There might be a need of blood test prior to initiate treatment with celebrex.

Doctor should have knowledge about one’s past health condition. One has to speak to his doctor if he or she:

* Drinks alcohol
* Have kidney disease
* Have coronary artery disease(CAD)
* Have congestive heart failure
* Have asthma
* Have fluid retention
* Have high blood pressure
* Are taking any steroid medicines like deltasone, prelone etc
* Smoke

It is advised not to consume celebrex without doctor’s knowledge if you have asthma, allergic reaction with septra, gantanol etc.

Celebrex belongs to FDA pregnancy category C. Pregnant women should not take celebrex without doctor’s prescription. Do not overdose this medicine.

Celebrex side effects

Few of the less serious side effects of celebrex medicine are:

* Dizziness
* Headache
* Insomnia
* Diarrhea

If you feel abdominal pain, nausea, blood in vomiting, tarry stools, weight gain or fatigue then immediately contact your doctor and seek advice.
